Dear Readers,

I’m gearing up for the June 10^th start of my Lover Letters tour, celebrating the release of my new Cupid, Texas series. I’ll have the venue dates posted soon.

Cupid is an amalgamation of three Trans-Pecos towns—Fort Davis, Marfa and Alpine. With a population of 3,000 it’s a picturesque village tucked into a valley of the Davis Mountain Range. Its rugged beauty, mineral springs, vineyards and caverns famed for a stalagmite that looks eerily like the Roman god Cupid helped earn its declaration of Most Romantic Town in Texas by World Traveler Magazine.

The intriguing landscape is complemented by a fascinating history. Supposedly, Wallis Simpson lured King Edward VIII to the hamlet, where his love for the American woman inspired him to abdicate the British throne. Another enduring legend is that if you leave a request at the base of the Cupid statue in the town’s botanical garden, the one for whom you carry a torch will love you in return. Cupid’s vistas and legends weave spells over those who come to this eccentric, but welcoming community filled with cowboys, artisans, researchers and small business owners. Tourists flock year round, drawn by the mineral springs, antique shops, superb hiking, cutting-edge music scene, wine tastings and dude ranches.

The Cupid statue legend has for decades brought staggering amounts of mail to the town from lonely hearts seeking requited love. Back in the 1930s a group of local women—all of whom who had snagged their true loves after writing pleas to Cupid—took it upon themselves to reply to the letters. The mission lives on among their descendents. A close-knit group of women gets together twice weekly to answer letters, dispense wisdom to the lovelorn and share local gossip with one another.

The group’s original leader, Millie Greenway, spearheaded the mission after she became a believer. The man she longed for, John McCleary, broke off his engagement to the mayor’s daughter in order to marry Millie after she wrote a heartfelt letter to Cupid. There was a big kerfuffle over it and Millie’s letter is still on display in the library, a testament to Cupid’s powers.

Millie’s four great-granddaughters followed family tradition into the group, even though none of the young women have found their own true loves. In fact, none even believe the legend. They feel like frauds and are constantly resisting the group’s good-natured attempts at match making. But, they also feel obligated by family ties and a devotion to the survival of local commerce to keep up the custom.

On May 21^st, the prequel novella, ONE TRUE LOVE, featuring Millie Greenwood, who started it all, will be released in ebook format. A print version will be available on June 18^th.

On May 28^th, Book 1, LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT will be released.

Book #2, ALL OUT OF LOVE, will follow on June 25^th.
